If you can hear audio from your camera but the Parent Unit screen remains black, the monitor may be in Audio Only Mode or experiencing a power-related issue. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot the problem.
Step 1: Check for Audio Only Mode
The Parent Unit may be in Audio Only Mode, which turns the display off while continuing to play sound.
- Briefly press the Power button once.
- If the screen turns back on, the monitor was in Audio Only Mode and no further troubleshooting is required.
Step 2: Check the Power Adapter
If the screen remains black:
- Swap the Parent Unit and Camera power adapters.
- Connect the Parent Unit using the alternate adapter.
- Allow it to charge for 15–30 minutes before attempting to power it on again.
If the Parent Unit powers on after changing the adapter, the original power adapter may be faulty.
Step 3: Reset the Parent Unit
If the issue persists:
- Disconnect the Parent Unit from the power adapter.
- Locate the Reset hole on the back of the Parent Unit, just below the antenna.
- Using a paperclip or another thin, non-sharp object, gently press and hold the reset button for 2–3 seconds.
- Reconnect the power adapter and turn the Parent Unit back on.
If the Screen Is Still Black
If you can still hear audio but the display does not turn on after completing the steps above, the Parent Unit may require further assessment.
