What is VOX Mode?
VOX (Voice-Activated Transmission) Mode is a power-saving feature that automatically puts the parent unit screen to sleep when the room is quiet and wakes it up when your baby makes a sound.
When VOX Mode is enabled, you don't need to keep the screen on continuously. The monitor will automatically react to sounds that reach the selected sensitivity level, helping to extend battery life while still alerting you when your baby needs you.
How VOX Mode Works
When VOX Mode is turned ON:
- The parent unit screen will turn off after a period of silence.
- The monitor continues listening for sounds from your baby's room.
- If your baby cries, talks, or another sound reaches the selected VOX sensitivity level, the screen automatically wakes up.
- Once the room becomes quiet again, the screen will return to sleep after a short period.
Note: Even when the screen is off, the monitor is still actively monitoring your baby's room.
VOX Sensitivity Levels
Your monitor allows you to adjust how sensitive VOX Mode is to sounds.
-
High Sensitivity
- Detects quieter sounds, such as gentle movements or soft crying.
- Ideal if you want to be notified of even small noises.
-
Medium Sensitivity
- Detects normal baby sounds and crying.
- A balanced setting suitable for most environments.
-
Low Sensitivity
- Only wakes the screen for louder sounds.
- Helps prevent the monitor from waking due to background noise.
Benefits of Using VOX Mode
Using VOX Mode can help you:
- Extend the parent unit's battery life.
- Reduce unnecessary screen-on time.
- Be alerted automatically when your baby makes a sound.
- Enjoy a quieter nighttime monitoring experience.
When Should I Use VOX Mode?
VOX Mode is especially useful:
- During naps.
- Overnight monitoring.
- When you want to conserve battery power.
- When your baby is sleeping and the room is generally quiet.
If you prefer to continuously watch your baby, you can simply leave VOX Mode turned off.
Helpful Reminder
VOX Mode only controls when the parent unit screen turns on or off. The camera continues monitoring your baby's room at all times, and the camera must remain plugged into power, as Babysense cameras are not battery operated.
